Life itself is the fundamental blessing from which all other blessings flow.  Our human life - in all its awesomeness and ordinariness, beauty and barrenness, its strength and fragility, joy and pain, its promise and disappointment, clarity and confusion, love and loss, - is the locus of our encounter with God, and thus the ultimate place of blessing.  Life is both blessing and responsibility; a mystery to be lived with reverent faith and a continuum of ordinary tasks and challenges to be addressed each day with responsive and responsible love.

     We are made in the image of the God of life, co-creators with the God who is life.  We ourselves are the fragile, flawed, yet exquisite earthen vessels that incarnate this blessing of life.  Thus, each of us is a unique place of blessing, precious to God and called by God to fullness of life as expressed and incarnated in the person and life of Jesus.

     Renewal is a time to return home to a place of blessing, to that place of blessing that each of us is, because the God of blessing dwells in us.  Renewal is the journey home; it is a time for healing, restoration and growth in all the wounded and neglected areas of ourselves and our lives.

RENEWAL IS A TIME . . .
  • for allowing God to show us the way to greater integrity, peace and inner freedom;
  • for remembering and celebrating all the ways in which we ourselves have been blessed and been blessing for others, and for opening ourselves to the challenge of discovering and responding to new and as yet unimagined blessings;
  • for reclaiming the blessing of life, and for receiving the fullness of life that Jesus promised us.
There are many ways in which we open ourselves to living life more fully.  Together, participants and staff will:
  • strive to become even more sensitive and responsive to God's presence and activity in and among us;
  • reflect upon and seek more effective responses to contemporary issues of justice, women in church and society, ministry, ecology, peace, etc.;
  • search for ever deeper and / or renewed meaning in our lives;
  • pray, play, study and celebrate together.
